I was feeling kind of cool toward Seattle Fashion Week. It sounded like it was going to be a quickly-thrown-together mess, but the enthusiasm I heard when talking to peeps at THREAD last weekend is giving me a new hope. What do you guys think, new ideas from interesting local designers or pretentious snorefest?
If you haven't seen it already, GQ is featuring Seattle in the travel section of its September issue. Kind of a sparse write-up, and missing most of what would make our city interesting to the fashionably inclined, but they did at least hit a couple key locales, such as the McLeod Residence and Blackbird.
Congratulations Seattle! Gentlemen everywhere will be thinking of you all quarter.
If you didn't notice and you weren't one of the 80 people that emailed me about it, the site was down for a while on Sunday. Everything has been fixed and should be super groovy now.
It's still a few weeks off, but what are people's thoughts on the upcoming THREAD event? I know it's Seattle's biggest fashion event, but it seems like it will just be another hipster-fashion circle jerk. Is it worth attending?
So I'm sitting in Remedy Teas off of 15th on Capitol Hill right now. I have no idea whether or not they do this intentionally, but the staff is wearing matching plain white t-shirts and khaki slacks. It looks like they're waiting for the return of Hale Bopp. Cult chic is a look that really doesn't used as much as it should.
At least they make some tasty sand-witches and teas. I would avoid the Kool Aid.
